Izegem leaves street lights on all night again

Like many other cities and municipalities, the city of Izegem decided last year to turn off public lighting at night to reduce energy costs. “That was really necessary to keep our energy bill affordable,” says Alderman Caroline Maertens. “Now that energy prices are a lot lower again, we want the street lighting to be on everywhere again at night.”

In Izegem they are also replacing all public lighting with LED light. This makes a big difference in consumption, but the city can also dim the light to different light intensities throughout the night.
