Ivory Coast promotes interim coach Fae

Bundesliga professional Sebastien Haller continues to hunt for goals for the newly crowned African football champions Ivory Coast under the direction of Emerse Fae.

As expected, the national association FIF promoted the Elephants’ previous interim coach to full-time head coach. The 40-year-old ex-national player’s most important goal is to qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Fae recently took over responsibility for the team around Borussia Dortmund striker Haller at the Africa Cup in his own country after the preliminary round. After his predecessor Jean-Louis Gasset was dismissed due to a disappointing preliminary round result despite reaching the round of 16, the hosts started a winning streak and finally celebrated their third continental title after 1992 and 2015.
