Didier Drogba has unsuccessfully made a bid for the presidency of the Ivorian Football Association. The former top striker of Chelsea, among others, did not make it through the first round in the vote.
The choice went to Yacine Idriss Diallo, the association reported. He won 63 to 61 votes at the expense of Sory Diabaté.
Drogba (44) was the captain of the Ivory Coast national football team, of which he is still the top scorer. He was twice voted African Footballer of the Year. In 2012, he won the Champions League with Chelsea, became England champion four times and won the FA Cup four times. In 2018 he ended his career with the American Phoenix Rising.
