Although it could never be verified, it is estimated that he put money into the electoral campaign for Carlos Menem’s first presidency.who would later protect him from being extradited when his dark involvement in World War II was discovered. He died on December 1, 2007 at the age of 92. His family said goodbye to him with heartfelt messages in the newspaper, among them, that of his infamous grandson Ivo, “El Croata.”
