Angela de Jong can now do quartets with TV invitations, but she has never been asked by one program: VPRO’s Zomergasten. “No, I was never asked, no.”
There are few people in the Netherlands who watch as much television as Angela de Jong. The perfect person to put together an entire TV evening. But does she also have something meaningful to say? The VPRO apparently thinks not, because the opinion diva of the AD has never been invited to join Zomergasten.
Angela in Summer Guests?
Angela tells in the latest AD Media podcast that she is looking forward to the upcoming episode of the program. “I am looking forward to Raven van Dorst in Zomergasten this week. Humberto Tan? I haven’t seen that. That was the first.”
Then colleague Dennis Jansen asks: “Would you say yes?”
Angela: “Against Summer Guests? They’re never going to ask me, so I don’t have to think about it. Moreover: what do you have to tell for three hours. No, yes, no.”
‘I think that’s crazy’
Angela doesn’t consider herself a great choice either. “I think you should put people there who say something less often about television and who surprise you with their choice.”
Dennis: “Well, I think a lot of people in the Netherlands are curious about your television evening. Seriously.”
Angela: “No, I was never asked, no.”
Dennis: “I think that’s crazy. Someone who watches television every day.”
‘Me at the VPRO?’
Angela: “Me at the VPRO? I don’t think that’s crazy at all. There has never been a TV critic in it.”
Dennis: “Hans Klok was there too, wasn’t he? I mean ehh… Why ehhh…”
Angela: “That was a nice broadcast!”
