Triple winner 2020: Ex-Bayern professional moves back home
Former Bundesliga professional Ivan Perišić is back at his youth club. As Croatian first division club Hajduk Split announced on Friday, Perisic will join Tottenham Hotspur on loan for the rest of the season. He last wore the split jersey in 2006 as a youth player.
After stints in France and Belgium, Perišić also played in the Bundesliga from 2011 – for Borussia Dortmund until January 2013 and then for VfL Wolfsburg until summer 2015. He then moved to Inter Milan, where he was under contract until 2022. In the 2019/20 season he went on loan to Bayern Munich and celebrated the triple there.
Hoffenheim lends Justvan to relegation candidates
TSG Hoffenheim is loaning Julian Justvan to league rivals Darmstadt 98 until the end of the current season. Both clubs announced this on Friday. The offensive player’s contract with TSG runs until 2027.
“The Lilies are a courageous and strong team for a newly promoted team, I was able to see that up close in the 3-3 draw against Hoffenheim,” said Justvan. “Of course I’m hoping for a lot of playing time so that I can do my part to ensure that Darmstadt 98 manages to stay in the Bundesliga,” added the 25-year-old ex-Paderborn player.
Ex-Bayern star returns to home club
Arturo Vidal joins his youth club Colo Colo (Chile). Several media outlets from South America report this unanimously. He should sign a two-year contract there. To return to the club where his career began 18 years ago, he is said to have turned down a significantly better offer from the Colombian club America de Cali.
The 36-year-old spent the last six months with Brazilian club Athletico Paranaense, where his contract had now expired. The midfielder played a total of seven years in the Bundesliga – four for Bayer Leverkusen (2011 – 2015) and three for Bayern Munich (2015 – 2018).
Perfect exit: national player moves to traditional club
After less than six months, former Liverpool star Jordan Henderson is saying goodbye to Saudi Arabia. The 33-year-old is moving to Dutch record champions Ajax Amsterdam. The England international agreed to terminate his contract with Al-Ettifaq and then signed a contract with Ajax until the summer of 2026. The traditional club announced this.
Henderson moved from Liverpool to the Saudi league last summer, for which he received a lot of criticism. Numerous fans, especially from the LGBTQ+ community, criticized Henderson for the change.
The midfielder had repeatedly spoken out against homophobia before his move. The abbreviation LGBTIQ+ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer and others. Homosexuality is banned in Saudi Arabia.
Union star goes to Spain: replacement striker right there
Without the current top scorer, but with a new source of hope, Union Berlin is heading into the Bundesliga relegation battle. Sheraldo Becker is moving to Real Sociedad in the Spanish first division. The transfer fee should be between three and five million euros. “I will forever be grateful to Union, this is where I became who I am today,” the 28-year-old attacker was quoted as saying goodbye.
