“It’s so disrespectful!”

Gordon thinks it’s extremely bad that philosopher Fleur Jongepier walked away from the table when he expressed his opinion on the Qatar issue in Op1. “That person just has problems of his own.”

Gordon’s media tour to promote his new TV programs on SBS 6 is not exactly going smoothly. He caused annoyance in Op1 on Tuesday evening with his insensitive opinion about the violation of human rights in Qatar. One of the guests at the table, philosopher Fleur Jongepier, decided to leave the studio during his story.

Gordon resumes tour

Gordon was so concerned with the media storm that erupted – Johan Derksen called him a village idiot, for example – that he canceled three programs the following day: Frank Dane’s afternoon show, HLF8 and Shownieuws. According to Evert Santegoeds, Gordon no longer felt like media appearances due to the incident at Op1.

Now, another day later, Gordon has resumed his media tour: he was heard on NPO Radio 2 and stood in front of the camera of RTL Boulevard. He has lashed out at Op1 runaway Fleur in both media.

‘What a load of shit!’

Gordon tells on the radio that he thinks it’s all bullshit. “Well, it’s been another storm, hasn’t it? Incredible. It’s a lot of commotion anyway. What a piece of shit, guys. There was a lot of whining about that talk show. I am sorry that it has to be this way.”

What does he think of the runaway? “I think it’s kind of disrespectful when you walk away from someone at the table in the middle of a conversation, but you know? I think that lady just has problems of her own. I don’t blame her at all.”

Qatar opinion

Radio presenter Jan-Willem Roodbeen: “I can also understand it somewhere, because you didn’t immediately talk it right, but at a certain point you can also think with things like this: I’ll just shut up about it for a while, I’ll let it go and talk about my program.”

No, says Gordon. “Yes, but you know? In the Netherlands you are supposed to go along with the opinion that is imposed and I just have a different opinion about it. I just think we’re taking it way too far.”

He continues: “Even though those situations are also very serious there in the country, I think that we as the Netherlands take such a position: look at us being the best boy in the class. Stop! I can get so angry about it.”

Not seen again

Has he spoken to Fleur yet? “No, I haven’t seen that whole human again, but do you know what it is? I also find it so disrespectful, because I also had to hear her story.”

Finally: “Usually people would walk away from my concert, but already when I speak, so it’s getting worse!”

And Gordon informs RTL Boulevard that he is no longer concerned. “I’ve already forgotten, dude.”
