Reopening on the Olympic Bridge! The iconic Hertha snack bar has a new owner and is now playing in league 2.0.
Since Thursday, the smell of curry has been drawing regular customers back to Olympische Straße. With a view of the Olympic Stadium, you can feast here again after a four-month break. For three euros, there is the currywurst based on the original recipe from snack icon Claudia Rose (74).
Pejman Darvish (40) took over the Olympic Bridge snack bar from her in November. After 35 years, she gave him her prescriptions and regular customers. A month-long renovation followed. Their former traditional booth has become a modern container snack bar with a roof terrace.
Rose supports Darvish together with employee Evelyn Boecz (74) in his new start behind the counter. “I’m glad he’s continuing to do this. Currywurst is a cult that belongs to Berlin and hopefully won’t stop,” she says.
The first Hertha game is coming up next Saturday. The new owner has great expectations for this day: “Of course I hope that as many fans as possible will visit us.”
