It’s official: carnival Zwaag is intangible heritage

It has been known for some time, but now it is official: carnival Zwaag is intangible heritage. Alderman Axel Boomgaars and director Marco van Baalen of the Knowledge Center for Intangible Heritage signed before the parade to ratify it.

“It underlines the importance of what carnival does. I come from below the rivers, there is carnival there all year round. But above the rivers this is quite special. You will see what a fantastic parade it will be,” says the alderman.
