It’s National Compliment Day: these Zoetermeer residents are giving (perhaps even you) a compliment

Zoetermeer is full of sweet, beautiful and special people. And every now and then they deserve a compliment! We are happy to help with this from indebuurt, because Friday, March 1 is National Compliment Day.

For National Compliment Day you could send in a compliment for someone you love via indebuurt. This may be a Zoetermeer local who is close to you, but also that sweet person at the supermarket or the hardworking volunteer at the community center. Whoever it is, they are probably very pleased with the gesture! Read the compliments submitted below:

Compliments for Maja and Henk

Daniëlle Oosterom would like to compliment Maja and Henk Neijssel. They are committed to the Maja Anjohuis Foundation. This house is located in Rokkeveen and is intended for (ex) cancer patients. “I know how much time and attention they have put into this beautiful project. And while they also have to deal with this disease themselves. So a compliment to these lovely people!”

Compliments for Jacqueline

Jacqueline Huijnen is committed to the residents of Vivaldi. Together with other volunteers, she accompanies people in need of assistance in a wheelchair during fun outings. On Wednesdays they regularly attend the lunch concerts in the Oude Kerk and drink coffee together with something tasty. Leendert Stoel therefore gives a big compliment to Jacqueline. “She does this job very well!”

Compliments for Annemieke

Annemieke van Gullik is always there for others. That’s why she deserves a compliment, according to neighbor Carla Liem. “My husband passed away two years ago and since then I have been eating at Annemieke and her husband’s home twice a week. I get leftovers in a container, and I can always drop by for coffee and a chat.”

During her holiday to Indonesia, Annemieke took some of the ashes of her deceased neighbor with her. In his native country she spread it on Java, for which Carla is very grateful. But she is also there for other people, according to Carla. “She regularly looks after the cats of various neighbors during holidays, and she looks after her niece’s son every week. Annemieke deserves a compliment.”

Compliments for Franka

Marcel Scheffers would like to compliment his colleague Franka Janssen. “Franka is a taxi driver for student transport and she takes children with disabilities from home to school and vice versa every day. She certainly deserves a compliment for the way she deals with the children. Chapeau Franka!”

Compliments for Lucilia

Monique Busscher from De Leyens is so happy with the help of Lucilia Veloso Nunes (74). As an informal caregiver, Lucilia cares for her eight-year-old son David (8), who has severe multiple disabilities. “She is there for him and for me every day.”

Last summer Lucilia had a heart attack, but she didn’t know how to stop. “She continued to care for David with all her heart. I am very proud of Lucilia and her love for my son David. We love her and she certainly deserves a compliment.”

Compliments to the cleaners at Bijdorplaan

Petra Blijleven lives on Bijdorplaan and she is happy with the volunteers who keep the neighborhood clean. “Several residents of Bijdorplaan keep the area tidy. For example, there is a woman who exchanges her PostNL jacket for a cardigan straight after work during the week. Then she starts picking dirt. On Saturdays I always see others cleaning up.”

Petra wants to put these cleaners in the spotlight because they keep the neighborhood tidy. “My compliments!”
