Abdullah Talal Hameed disappeared in August in Budapest, but was miraculously found unharmed.

Hameed tells In an extensive interview with Aftonbladet, that on Monday, August 21, his doorbell rang twice. A big man stood at the door, with another man behind him.

– Come with us, the men ordered.

Hameed refused, whereupon the men showed their guns, raised their voices, and forced Hameed into the street, where a car was waiting.

The men tied him to the back seat of the car and drove off. Hameed was screaming inside his head, but at the same time he was thinking about his mother suffering from high blood pressure and thinking about his new club HNK Gorica. They should probably be told that Hameed can’t make it to practice.

Once there, Hameed was pushed into an empty room where not even the light of day strayed. There were no beds in the room, and no toilet bowl. Hameed had to urinate in the corner of the room.

The men said that Hameed does not get food or water.

Hameed thought he was going to die. He told the kidnappers that he would do anything to stay alive.

– Nothing is easier than hiding a body in a place where it cannot be found. It’s just about killing and disposing of the body, the men explained to him.

After the fourth day, the atmosphere changed and the kidnappers seemed pressured and desperate. On Friday morning, they released 27-year-old Hameed. He had lost seven kilos.

A menacing man

Hameed’s contract ended last season with Hungarian club Zalaegerszeg. An unknown agent called him and asked if he would be interested in a big club in one of Europe’s top leagues.

Hameed visited the club, got to know the arena, but the offer seemed too good to be true.

Hameed pulled out of the contract at the last minute and moved to the Croatian premier league club HNK Gorica.

– Everything was obscure. It wasn’t for me, Hameed said about pulling out of the deal.

Hameed had already encountered a threatening man in the parking lot of a hotel in Zagreb, the capital of Croatia, who had behaved aggressively towards him.

He believes that the menacing man in the hotel in Zagreb, the suspicious offer and the kidnapping are connected. He is sure he was arguing with the wrong people in the shadows of top football.

Hameed has been prescribed sleeping pills and still can’t eat anything.
