Italians over 50 will pay a fine for refusing to vaccinate

The Italian government has introduced compulsory vaccinations for Italians and foreigners over 50 living in the country. For refusal to vaccinate, a fine of 100 euros and other penalties are foreseen, according to the newspaper La Stampa.

So, an employee over 50 years old to continue working requires a covid certificate issued on the basis of a certificate of vaccination or previous illness. Lack of a covid certificate without a good reason (medical rejection or contraindications to vaccination) entails suspension from work without pay

If an employee appears at the workplace without a covid certificate, he will be fined from 600 to 1.5 thousand euros.

The amount of the fine for the lack of a covid certificate for a citizen visiting public places ranges from 400 to 1,000 euros.

The so-called super-covid certificate for workers over 50 will become mandatory from 15 February.

The validity period of the covid certificate is six months, from January 10, it is required to visit public places, including hotels, mountain resorts, cultural institutions, gyms, congress centers.

A negative result of a PCR or express test is necessary for visiting post offices, branches of banks, hairdressers and shopping centers.

The number of coronavirus cases in Italy is growing; over the past day, a record value of 200 thousand cases has been recorded. Doctors talk about a significant deterioration in the epidemiological situation in the country. There are 1,500 people in intensive care units, and 15,000 in hospitals. The rest are treated at home and are in self-isolation.

The government is trying to prevent school closings and the transition to distance learning.

In Italy, over 90% of the population over 12 years old have been ill or vaccinated. At the end of 2021, vaccination of children aged five to 11 began.
