The young man was on holiday on the Spanish island with his girlfriend Alessia. Both, Monday 14 August, sThey were overwhelmed by the tidal wave while they were in a cove on the coast of Las Gigantes. While Alessia managed to stay afloat, Luca was swallowed up by the water and disappeared into the sea. The young woman, in a visible state of shock, was rescued and taken to the Hostellon Sur hospital by the Servicio de Urgencias Canario. Meanwhile, the diving specialists of the Guardia Civil searched the seabed in the hope of being able to track down the boy. Luke’s body, however, it was only found the next dayTuesday 15 August.

Luke’s familythe father Alfio, the mother Monica and the older sister Laura, have already reached Tenerife. As reported by The print, Luca Brignone lived in Madonna delle Grazie and, after graduating from Ipsia in Cuneo, he found work as a clerk in the technical office of the metal carpentry company Perano di Poveragno. In the summer the couple he was also an animator in the parish: “These are tragedies that involve not only the family but the whole community. Luca was a splendid boy.” explained the parish priest, Don Paolino Revello. “He has always been an animator in parish activities with a calm and polite style. We will be close to the family, we will try to help them face this terrible moment”.
