Italian customs seize 22 kilograms of sand, shells and pebbles from Sardinian beaches | Abroad

According to the Italian news agency, this concerns a total of ten kilograms of sand, seven kilograms of pebbles and five kilograms of shells from the iconic beaches in the northern part of the island.

The tourists who were punished with fines between 500 and 3,000 euros came from various European countries such as Sweden, Spain, Poland, Romania and also Italy.

The action is part of a hunt for tourists who continue to loot the beach for souvenirs, while this is prohibited. That problem gets worse during the summer season, when more tourists flock to Sardinia.
