“It really hurts” – Lena Dürr is 0.07 seconds short of the slalom medal – Olympics

The best slalom runner of the winter is also the new Olympic champion: Petra Vlhová from Slovakia fulfilled her dream of Olympic gold and is the successor to the Swede Frida Hansdotter. Only in eighth place after the first round, the leader in the slalom world cup put everything on one card in the final round, which her coach had set, and was rewarded.

It was an aggressive, flawless drive by the 26-year-old – that’s how Vlhová is known. After the disappointment in giant slalom when she landed under a further runner, she rehabilitated in slalom. Her enthusiastic reaction when victory was confirmed shows that after eighth place in the first round she had no longer expected to win the Olympics.

Silver went to Austria’s Katharina Liensberger, just 0.08 seconds back, who worked her way up from seventh place after the first heat. Third was Wendy Holdener from Switzerland (+ 0.12 seconds).
