It is with ‘pain in the heart’ that director Patrick van Mil (66) says goodbye to Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar

Since 2016, Patrick van Mil has been the beating heart of the Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar. “After 43 years of working with heart and soul in the cultural sector, it is time for a new balance in my life, with more time for my wife and (grand)children and room for other roles and new assignments,” says Patrick van Mil know about media partner Streeksstad Centraal.

Despite his departure, he confidently leaves the museum to his team. Van Mil looks back with pleasure on the time when he was director of the museum, when visitors were taken through all the art styles that exist. “I am proud of what we have achieved with the museum over the past seven years.”

In the coming months, Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar will focus on two exhibitions: ‘100xLucebert’ and ‘The Diagonal Institute’ by Michael Tedja. The renewed city collection presented this summer. “I will continue to dedicate myself fully to the museum and the wonderful projects that are coming,” said Van Mil.
