The construction of emergency container villages has already started in Mechelen and Antwerp. There will also be five in West Flanders. Bruges keeps two fallow grass meadows as a location. The city does not want to say where they are for the time being.

The criteria that an emergency village must meet are not less: there must be room for 250 residential units with a surface area of at least 20 square meters. Public transport and schools in the area also play a role.

There will be 15 emergency villages throughout Flanders. This week the money for the construction and operation of the emergency villages would be released.
