“It has been obvious to Finns that Kiira Korpi is straight” – This is how the ex-figure skater commented

Ex figure skater Kiira Korpi spoke openly at the beginning of the year about how he is not straight in terms of his sexual orientation.

– I’ve always known that I’m also attracted to and turned on by women, but I’ve downplayed it or silenced the feeling in myself, Kiira told Me Naiset magazine.

A more masculine Kiira

In the latest episode of Roope Salminen’s popular Three Turning Points podcast, Korpi opens up more about his spiritual growth, which has happened a lot in recent years. Korpi says that with the ice princess title, she put enormous pressure on herself at a young age.

– Even though I had done well in the games and had been on the national team for many years, it still felt like overnight I turned from an ordinary high school student into an “ice princess” known and known by the general public, she recalls her first Olympics in the podcast.

– Somehow I thought that I should just be like this now, especially since figure skating is still such a sport that it requires extreme aesthetics and a smile and all the beauty from the outside, Korpi continues.

Only in recent years did Korpi realize what price all this has had.

– There was quite a lot of everything else inside, which maybe you couldn’t work on or didn’t know how to (work on), Korpi states.

In the same context, Salminen brings up how Korpi recently said that he is not straight. Salminen thanks Korpei for his openness.

– The fact that you’ve said publicly that you’re not straight is absolutely bullshit. It’s not my duty, but I just want to thank you for it on behalf of humanity, Salminen states.

– It has been obvious to Finns that Kiira Korpi is indeed straight. Either she is looking for a man or she has a man or she wants a man or she needs a man. That man is attached to it either as a goal or as an existing thing, always. And you have never said that you are straight, Salminen continues.

Salminen makes Korve think about it. Korpi says that she was a tomboy as a child and that she became interested in skating because of its physicality. On the other hand, she has not experienced the images of glitter and femininity associated with the sport as attractive.

– Such a harder, more masculine side, I had to kind of fade it away in myself.

– Now it’s a bit like I’ve reclaimed it, Korpi says to Salmin.

Korpi got married in 2018 Arthur Borges with. The union ended in divorce in 2021. Korpi has dated since then Pekkawith a man named – and the relationship ended last year.
