According to a military spokesman, Israel has come under fire from Lebanon. The Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for the attack.

In “solidarity with the victorious Palestinian resistance and the struggle of the Palestinian people,” a Hezbollah brigade attacked three areas of “Zionist occupation” in the Shebaa Farms area on Sunday morning, Hezbollah said. According to the UN, the so-called Shebaa Farms are part of the Syrian territories occupied by Israel in 1967. However, Syria and some parties in Lebanon view the area as Lebanese territory.

Among other things, Hezbollah said that a radar system was directly attacked with a large number of artillery shells and guided missiles. “Towards the liberation of what remains of our occupied Lebanese land,” Hezbollah, which is closely allied with Iran, said in a statement on Sunday.

The United Nations observer mission in Lebanon, Unifil, confirmed that several rockets were fired from southeast Lebanon into Israeli-occupied territory. According to a spokesman, the Israeli artillery returned the attacks. The Israeli armed forces are prepared for all scenarios.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military continued its massive airstrikes in the Gaza Strip after the Islamist Hamas surprisingly launched large-scale attacks against Israel from there on Saturday. So far, hundreds of people have died on both sides.
