The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned an Israeli attack on the Syrian province of Daraa and stated that it had caused “significant human and material losses,” according to Staatspersbureau Sana.
Defense minister Israel Katz said that Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa is “directly responsible” and promised that there will be “a full response”. Rebels put an end to the Bashar al-Assad regime in December. Since Assad’s Val, according to Israeli media, projectiles have not been fired from Syria before.
A few hours after Katz’s statements, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported a series of air strikes by Israel in southern Syria. According to Israel, the attacks were aimed at arms depots of the Syrian regime.
It is not yet clear who is responsible for the attack with the projectiles that the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs described as ‘messages that have not yet been verified’. The ministry also said that Syria “is not a threat to any party in the Middle East.”
