Israel accuses Iran of attack on oil tanker | Abroad

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says Iran is behind an attack on an oil tanker. The ship was fired upon in the Persian Gulf last week.

The oil tanker flies the flag of Liberia, but is associated with an Israeli shipping company. The captain said the ship suffered minor damage from the shelling.

Netanyahu calls the attack a violation of international maritime law. Iran has not responded to the accusation and has often dismissed such allegations in the past.

Conversely, Israel launched a missile attack on Iranian military installations in Syria. Fifteen people were killed, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. Israel has been carrying out attacks on Syria for nearly a decade to disable military equipment supplied by Iran.
