The New York Islanders have fired their head coaches Barry Trotzin. The club informed the GM Lou Lamoriello.
Trotz coached the Islanders in the NHL in the top four in 2020 and 2021, but this season the team failed and was completely out of the playoffs.
Trotz, 59, has been named the NHL’s best coach in 2016 and 2019. He coached the Washington Capitals to the Stanley Cup in the spring of 2018.
Trotz moved from the Capitals to Islanders immediately after the championship. He has also coached the Nashville Predators for as long as 16 years in the NHL.
