The 31-year-old Russian defeated the Australian featherweight champion of the UFC in the title fight Alexander Volkanovskywho was chasing his second championship belt in the upper weight class.
A compatriot who is now training in the same team as Volkanovski Dan Hooker has released a shocking claim about Makhachev’s cheating.
Before Sunday’s match, Mahacheva had great difficulty in reducing her weight to the required 70 kilos. He had to strip completely naked on the scale to get the last few grams off.

However, when the match started the next day, Makhachev looked very strong, and continued to grind in the ring for a full 25 minutes.
This aroused Hooker’s suspicions. He began to accuse the Russian champion of intravenous use, i.e. rehydrating his body intravenously.

Forbidden method
When losing weight, contestants starve their bodies practically dry of fluids. Thus, intravenous is prohibited in the UFC to eradicate the most drastic weight loss attempts.
However, Hooker suspected that the US anti-doping organization USADA was not going to do anything about it.
After Hooker presented his wild claim, the freestyle circles began to buzz. Soon he also continued his rant on Twitter.
– Prove me wrong. I bet you can’t. If Islam doesn’t cheat, he won’t win either. He is a fraud.
However, some UFC fans suspected that Hooker is just bitter about the outcome of the fight. He himself lost to Makhatchev in the UFC in 2021. At that time, the match ended in just over two minutes.
