Ishak Belfodil has joined Al-Gharafa SC in Qatar on a free transfer

After 99 Bundesliga games

Striker Ishak Belfodil joins Qatari Stars League side Al-Gharafa SC on a free transfer. At the end of June, the 30-year-old decided not to extend his expiring contract with Hertha BSC and to leave. Belfodil signs a contract that runs until 2024.

The attacker, whose market value had fallen significantly over the past three years, switched from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim to Berlin last summer for a transfer fee of 500,000 euros – the Kraichgauers had hired the services of the 19-time Algerian national player in the summer of 2018 5, cost 5 million euros.

After the right foot (26 goals in 80 games for TSG) went downhill in Hoffenheim at least since his knee surgery in autumn 2019, he had his qualities at Hertha flashed again in the meantime and especially towards the end of the season in the relegation battle. For the capital, he scored five goals (3 assists) in 25 Bundesliga games. In total, Belfodil contributed 35 goals in 99 games in the German Oberhaus for Werder Bremen, Hoffenheim and Berlin.
