The communication group, leader of local and regional information in Spain, has appointed Isabel Morillo director of The Andalusian Post Office. The journalist, until now a delegate of The Spanish Newspaper in Andalusia, he assumed the direction of the historic newspaper that, founded in 1899, is today the dean of the Sevillian press and constitutes a reference for current information in the autonomous community.
Isabel Morillo assures that directing The Andalusian Post Office is “the biggest professional challenge” which he has faced and represents “an opportunity to bet on rigorous, plural and independent information in Andalusia from the hand of a serious and solvent publishing company like Prensa Ibérica.”
Graduated in Journalism from the University of Seville, Morillo has developed her professional career in various media outlets in Andalusia, mainly in the press.
He took his first steps in Ideal and Southnewspapers currently owned by Vocento, and in 2004 he joined the editorial staff of The Andalusian Post Office, where she cut her teeth first as a political chronicler and, later, as head of the Andalusia section. “It was my school and that of several generations of journalists in Seville; here we learned the trade”, he affirms. In 2014 she assumed the Andalusian correspondent of The confidential and in 2022 he signed for Prensa Ibérica and joined the national politics section of The Spanish Newspaper to deal with information about this autonomous community.
His career is completed with collaborations in different radio and television programs such as Hour 25 of the Chain Being, The mornings from RNE, The Hour of 1 of TVE and various formats of La Sexta.
Mar Vega and Raúl Rico
Prensa Ibérica, which has an ambitious plan to relaunch the historic newspaper, trusts the commercial direction of the new project to Mar Vega and management to Raúl Rico.
Commercial delegate of the communication group in Andalusia since 2021, Mar Vega also assumes, from now on, responsibility as commercial director of The Andalusian Post Office. She has a degree in Journalism and Advertising and Public Relations from the University of Seville, she has a Master in Digital Business from ESIC and a specialist in Inbound Marketing from HubSpot Academy. She has extensive experience in the commercial media area and is one of the professionals who best knows the institutional and business fabric of Andalusia.
Raúl Rico, who is currently manager of The Opinion of Malaga and the graphic arts plant Corporación Gráfica Penibética, now adds the management of The Andalusian Post Office to their responsibilities. Rico joined Prensa Ibérica in 2003 after working at Deloitte and has a degree in Economics and Business Sciences from the University of Málaga, an MBA from the Higher School of Business Studies and a master’s degree in Senior Management from San Telmo Business School.
Bet on Andalusia
The acquisition of El Correo de Andalucía reaffirms the strategic nature that this autonomy acquires for the communication company, which already launched in 1999 The Opinion of Malaga and integrated Córdoba Newspaper in 2019 with the purchase of Grupo Zeta. The media group, which has 26 other newspapers throughout the country, is today the leader of regional and local information in Spain
Prensa Ibérica has a roadmap to relaunch the historic newspaper which, coinciding with its 125th anniversary and relying on the strength of the group, must facilitate the modernization of the newspaper under the protection of a push for its digitalization hand in hand with the most advanced technologies and a value proposition that, editorially and for the benefit of readers, allows an increase and improvement of content, as well as optimal adaptation to the information needs of today’s society.
Iberian Press sum with The Andalusian Post Office a total of 27 newspapers and almost 70 Chronicles local, in addition to various magazines. El Periódico, El Periódico de España, Faro de Vigo, La Nueva España, Levante-EMV, Information, Diario de Mallorca and The province They are some of the leaders of the group.
