Coen Swijnenberg strongly suspects that the men of Today Inside are talking to a different media party than their own employer Talpa. “Or am I hearing things that aren’t there?”
With the acquisition of Talpa, RTL Nederland hoped to remove a major competitor from the market, which would enable it to invest considerably more in Videoland. However, the mega deal in TV land was rejected, but there is another way. By hijacking the men of Today Inside, RTL can drain the competitor in a different way.
Control battle
Friend and foe agree that Today Inside is the cork on which Talpa’s flagship SBS 6 floats. Without this program, there is not much left but a holiday park villain, Wendy van Dijk, standing between random talent show candidates and a collection of digital puppets.
Coen Swijnenberg now alludes to the fact that John de Mol’s worst nightmare could just become reality. He was watching Today Inside last night and at one point thought he heard a clear indication that the VI men are currently engaged in a bidding war.
“What does Wilfred say?”
The 538 star says in an Instagramstory: “Just a media thing in between. In yesterday’s Today Inside broadcast I heard a short comment from presenter Wilfred Genee that made me prick up my ears… It was about Sylvie Meis’s divorce and how she always likes rich men. Johan Derksen makes a joke and then Wilfred says…”
Coen refers to the passage in which Johan grumbles that Sylvie only likes rich men. “Well, I stay away from her!” he shouts.
To that Wilfred says: “Well, we’re not done yet, are we?”
Very suspicious
Very suspicious, Coen thinks this. “Are the men talking to another party/channel?”
The radio maker has presented it to his followers. 69 percent answer: ‘Clearly’, with a money bag behind it. And the rest, 31 percent, say: ‘No Coen, you hear things that are not there.’
It is striking that Coen has included his three stories on this subject no time removed, possibly after a tap on Talpa’s fingers.
‘Haven’t heard anything yet’
Johan made another reference to John later in the broadcast. “Have you heard from John or is he undergoing treatment?”
Wilfred: “I haven’t heard from John since. I sent some back last week, but it’s been quiet since then!”
Then tellingly: “If he cannot come to an agreement with us, then of course he still has the solution.”
Dolls
Wilfred makes a joke by referring to John’s TV flop Avastars. “Of course he can also make dolls of us! Then he just deploys those puppets while he deploys us. That makes a difference!”
Finally, Johan seems to suggest that there is a financial conflict: “Maybe those dolls were so expensive that he… Huh?”
