Is the Bootshaus in Cologne the best club in Germany?

That British “DJ Mag” determines the top hundred clubs in the world every year. It calls for a vote, in which around 600,000 people took part this time. According to them, Hï Ibiza is the best club in the world. Opened in 2017, it holds up to 5,500 partygoers and features a state-of-the-art sound system. Four German clubs also made it into the top 100.

The Bootshaus in Cologne: Germany’s best club?

The club with the highest ranking – and therefore the best in Germany according to “Dj Mag” – is the Bootshaus in Cologne. As in the previous year, the club came fifth in the ranking. On the other hand, Berghain in Berlin has deteriorated significantly, after being in sixth place last year, the club only managed twelfth place this year. However, only a few of the 600,000 voters passed through the strict door of the club and saw Berghain from the inside.

The ranking also raises a number of questions in general. The Berlin club Tresor ended up in 50th place, improving by a total of ten places compared to last year. However, the club had been closed since the corona pandemic and only opened its doors again in May of this year. So it’s hard to imagine that too many of the people who rated the club in the vote have been partying at Tresor since then. The meaningfulness of the list seems to be rather low.

The managing director of the Bootshaus in Cologne, Tom Thomas, is nevertheless pleased with the good placement of his club. Opposite to t-online he said: We are pleased that despite all the adversities, we managed to convince again”. According to Thoms, the past two corona years have not always been easy:

“Our work has not exactly been made easy for us in the last two years. But that didn’t stop us and only spurred us on to new top performances. We had to close our gates twice, twice we had to plan the reopening within a very short time, with hygiene measures and visitor limits.”

The fourth German club to make the top 100 is Berlin-based Watergate, which ranks 35th on the list.
