Is Raphael Guerreiro leaving again? Ex-BVB star sought after in Saudi Arabia

After seven years at BVB, Raphael Guerreiro moved to FC Bayern on a free transfer last summer. However, due to injury, the Portuguese has only played a supporting role in Munich so far. Now a Saudi club is trying to get the left-footer away from the record champions in the winter.

Raphael Guerreiro has only played eight competitive games for the German industry leader since he signed with FC Bayern. First a torn muscle bundle slowed him down, then a torn muscle fiber.

Although coach Thomas Tuchel is considered a fan of the high-class technician, with whom he had already worked in Dortmund, he is unlikely to give Guerreiro a regular place in the second series either. The competition in the squad is simply too strong for that.

Problem: The 30-year-old, who has signed with Säbener Straße until 2026, absolutely wants to take part in the European Championships in Germany with Portugal next June. And without regular match practice, he is unlikely to be able to convince national coach Roberto Martínez of himself.

The very rich Saudi club Al-Hilal apparently wants to capitalize on this situation. According to information from the renowned French sports newspaper “L’Equipe”, world star Neymar’s employer recently “established contacts” with Guerreiro.

FC Bayern: Al-Hilal would like to loan Guerreiro

Al-Hilal are looking for a left-back and have apparently chosen Guerreiro as one of their desired players. The Frenchman Lucas Digne from Aston Villa is considered an alternative.

The Sheikh team’s plan is to loan out one of the two veterans with a purchase option. At FC Bayern, Al-Hilal is likely to hit a brick wall with his request.

In the first half of the season it became clear several times that the Munich squad was too small to handle the multiple demands. Departures are therefore not planned – especially since Guerreiro is considered a valuable option for Tuchel due to his versatility.
