Pippuri.fi tested whether family pizza will be cheaper than normal-sized pizzas. Based on the test, it turned out that ordering a family pizza can bring savings if the whole family tastes the pizza with the same fillings.
Which will be cheaper for your wallet, buying regular-sized or family pizzas? We tested pizzas of different sizes in three different pizzerias and calculated their price per kilo as well as their area.
We ordered pizzas from three different chains, Kotipizza, Pizza Service and Pizza Express. We ordered pizzas from both restaurants in both normal size and family size.
In home pizzas, pizzas are not sold under the name of family pizza, but in medium, large and extra large sizes. We took all three to the test.

The price per kilo of vegetable pizza ordered from Pizza Express was 15.80 euros for a family pizza and 17 euros for a normal size. Thus, family pizza will be cheaper per kilo for those who shop at Pizza Express, at least for the tested Mother Nature.
The family pizza also offered more value for money at Pizza Service, which had a price of € 19 per kilo for Empire family pizza and € 20.50 for a regular size.

At home pizza, the cheapest price per kilo was surprisingly found in a medium-sized large pizza, which cost 28.90 euros per kilo. The prices per kilo of medium and extra large pizzas were the same for their tism, 29.20 euros, which is a bit more expensive than the large one.
The table below shows the results of the comparison. The table compares the normal-sized pizza in each pizzeria to a family or large pizza in the same restaurant. Thus, the prices of different pizzerias cannot be compared, as the test included pizzas with different fillings and the price is naturally influenced by the ingredients of the pizza.
