Rachel Hazes was close to her son André Hazes Jr. for a while, but that time is gone forever. They never see each other again. “Whether it is because of Monique Westenberg?”
As a mother you have to be very upset when both your children no longer want you. Not only Roxeanne, but also André Jr. has broken off contact with mother Rachel. That broken contact started approximately when André’s letter to Sarah van Soelen was leaked, but Rachel denies that she did that and states that the break has another reason. She seems to hint that it’s because of Monique Westenberg, her daughter-in-law and arch-enemy. His return to her arms and their break also coincide.
How are things going now? Rachel tells in her club magazine Story: “There is little contact with André himself at the moment. I’m not going to say this is because of Monique. I do not know. André is almost thirty years old, no longer eleven. He can very well decide for himself how he wants to live his life. He doesn’t need his mother for that.”
Weird things
Rachel doesn’t know what exactly is going on, but of course she must have done something. “He knows that he is always more than welcome with me. André hasn’t done anything strange to me or said anything about me.”
What a drama at the Hazesjes. She never sees André and Monique’s son either. “I’ve seen him for maybe an hour and a half in the last six years. I see the neighborhood children more often. I find that very painful, but I don’t want to let it affect me too much.”
Very deep
It’s striking that Rachel never seems devastated. “Because I have been so deep, I can put things into perspective. I won’t let myself be discouraged anymore.”
She concludes: “I have a nice group of friends around me again, whom I already knew before all the trouble started. I had lost touch with them a bit. I think some people have tried to isolate me a little bit. But that’s fine.”
