Hertha and Corona – does that never end? Now head coach Felix Magath is ill and will be out against Hoffenheim. It all started two years ago with Maxi Mittelstädt. A chronology:
March 17, 2020: Maxi Mittelstädt is the first Hertha player with Corona
20.3.: Hertha’s professionals go until 30.3. completely quarantined. The league is on pause
4.5.: Kalou shoots a video in the Hertha dressing room, violating corona hygiene rules. Kalou is suspended
7.9.: Darida and Piatek are out with Corona
8.9.: Guendouzi has Corona
3/27/2021: Goalkeeper Jarstein is substituted at half-time in Norway’s international match against Turkey. Back in Berlin he tested positive. He will be the Bundesliga professional with the worst long-term corona consequences, including heart muscle inflammation and a wheelchair. To date he has not played again
April 19: After four cases of Corona, Hertha is the first team to go into a full ten-day quarantine while playing. The league games are cancelled. In a mammoth program there are four games in ten days. Hertha still saves the class.
October 27th: A former assistant coach of the U23 team dies as a result of Corona
11/13: Jovetic has Corona
1/4/2022: With Gechter, Boyata, Zeefuik and Björkan four players are positive
5.1.: Tousart and Ascacibar also have Corona
February 10: New signing Kempf has Corona
February 14: Sports director Arne Friedrich has to go into quarantine with symptoms
February 20th: Before the game against Leipzig, a total of eight players and seven coaches are out with Corona
February 24: Goalkeeper Schwolow has Corona
March 17th: New coach Felix Magath is out before his first game with Corona
