Is Dino Toppmöller in danger of leaving Eintracht Frankfurt?

Coach Dino Toppmöller is coming under increasing criticism at Eintracht Frankfurt. Is the 43-year-old even threatened with extinction? The SGE bosses have apparently made up their minds.

As “Bild” reports, Dino Toppmöller is not up for debate at Eintracht Frankfurt. Accordingly, expelling the coach is “not an issue at all” for sports director Markus Krösche.

Instead, the trainer enjoys “great support” and “every trust”.

Toppmöller himself feels “no pressure at all to succeed,” as he recently said on “ZDF”: “We’re just keen to work with the boys. The most important thing is that everyone takes care of themselves – regardless of whether it’s a player or that coaching team.”

Eintracht Frankfurt “not a top team”

With a successful start to the second half of the season in terms of results, Eintracht Frankfurt had stalked the Champions League places, but the deserved 2-0 defeat at relegation candidate 1. FC Köln stopped the race to catch up in the most sobering way.

“We always make these simple mistakes. That’s why we’re not a top team yet,” Toppmöller raged after the defeat. The first half was “very, very thin in terms of football”. Above all, Toppmöller continued, “these constant, simple ball losses annoy me. You can’t win a game like that.”

He had already seen these mistakes in his team in the 1-0 (0-0) win against FSV Mainz 05 the previous week. “It was catastrophic,” said Toppmöller: “If you play like that, you can never build up pressure.”

Therefore, his sentences should be understood as a “clear criticism of how things are implemented”. “We win together, we lose together,” he said: “But we have to present ourselves differently in terms of football, get on our own and do better.”

In Cologne, Eintracht, who ended the game with nine men after yellow-red cards against Niels Nkounkou (66th) and Tuta (83rd), suffered their first defeat this year.
