Tooske Ragas is very shocked by Bridget Maasland’s personal outpourings. She wonders whether the image of her TV colleague is about to change. “She’s not cold!”
Bridget Maasland revealed in a long interview with the public broadcaster that she used to struggle with black thoughts. At one point she didn’t even want to live anymore. Not only her colleagues from RTL Boulevard are terribly shocked by this outpouring, but Shownieuws star Tooske Ragas is also very fond of her.
‘she’s not like that’
What a shame to hear, Tooske thinks. “Incredibly intense. I’m very scared. Surely that wasn’t the plan. Then you’re in an interview like that and she says so herself: ‘It scares me.’”
Colleague Evert Santegoeds: “Of course we don’t see her very often. It is usually the somewhat measured aunt who talks about subjects a bit distantly.”
Photographer William Rutten: “While that is really not the case.”
Tooske: “No. That’s right. She’s not like that!”
William: “No, she really isn’t.”
Does image tilt?
Tooske wonders whether Bridget’s ice-cold image will change after this TV interview. “That sticks to her. That may now take on a different meaning if you know this, that you may think: yes, but yes, then someone might show their teeth faster because they feel a bit vulnerable.”
She continues: “Maybe that image will finally tilt.”
Vulnerable
Sports expert Chatilla van Grinsven thinks it’s very good that Bridget is so vulnerable. “It is wonderful that she dares to express herself in such a vulnerable way. I think she really had to go very deep in her life.”
Some people find Bridget’s outpourings very private, but not Chatilla. “The subject of mental health should really be discussed more often on the table and I think it’s powerful that she does that here in this program.”
No friend
Bridget said nothing about love in the TV interview. “Well, there isn’t one at the moment,” says Evert. “The last one was also very controversial of course, so she’s taking it easy and I think she should also do everything she can to make sure that if there is someone in her life, she will keep it hidden for as long as possible this time.”
He concludes: “She is not really looking and it is of course difficult for her to find someone, because you never know what someone like that is about. But if it is, we will undoubtedly find out again. And she will also meet someone one day.”
