Singer Irina’s latest song released at the beginning of November Accomplice is exceptional in the artist’s production.
– I wanted to sing about friendship, because that subject has not yet been discussed in my music. Friends are a necessity in life, along with family, Irina describes.
A family-like community has also been formed in the song Elämäni, where Irina has already sung for four production seasons.
The feedback has been only positive, and Irina has received praise especially for her throwing ability.
– Even though I love performing my own songs, it’s nice to throw myself into other genres and music. A bit like visiting guests, or from what I know! Irina says with a laugh.
Sometimes the program also requires you to go outside your comfort zone. As an example, Irina mentions a song in Spanish Despacitowhich took a while to refuel.
The popularity of the program has also brought with it everyday encounters.
– In the grocery store in Heinola, people might come to talk about the program, Irina says.
– Here, it’s such a commonplace sight anyway, that it doesn’t arouse much thought anymore. Or might arouse, but people keep them to themselves.
Thanks to the program, new listeners have also found their way to Irina’s music.
– We mostly play in nightclubs. There are a lot of gangs that would come to watch, but maybe not the nightclub crowd. There have also been those who have come for that reason, says Irina.
Calming down
In the upcoming ninth album, the themes traditionally focus on human relationships.
– Even though I have experienced a lot of things with my husband and we have a long history, the friends I am thinking about in this song in particular have been in my life much longer, Irina says, referring to the new song.
Irina and the band’s lighting man Henri Saari have been together for over 20 years. Now the relationship and career coincide seamlessly, but in the beginning it was difficult for Irina in particular to adapt to the constant togetherness.
– When I was younger, it might not have been so painless when things fell into place, Irina thinks.
– I think that the challenge was more for me, when home, work and everything were in common. I am a massive longing for my own space.
In recent years, the spouse has also been involved in other productions, and his own time has increased.
– Of course, it makes it easier for me when my husband takes care of schedules and other things, so I know even better where I have to be! Irina laughs.
Irina, who has had a long career, sometimes finds herself longing to calm down.
– Basically, however, I am an energetic performer and I like it when the guitars are fresh.
