It is the first world title for the Dutch team since 2021. Schouten then became world champion with Ireen Wüst and Antoinette Rijpma-de Jong. It is the first world title in this event for Beune and Groenewoud. The trio also became European champions earlier in January.

The skaters missed out on winning the world title at the World Championships last year. They were disqualified because a part of Beune’s ankle was not properly covered, as required by the regulations. The same trio had previously skated the best time.
