De Jong, the reigning European all-round champion, came to a time of 38.81. She was the best Dutch in fifth place. Schouten, a three-time Olympic champion, finished in a personal best of 39.24. She finished seventh and kept the damage limited in view of her strong long distances.

Debutante Merel Conijn set a time of 39.68. She finished eleventh. Behind Takagi, her compatriot Ayano Sato was second in 38.49. Nadezhda Morozova finished third in 38.59.
