Ireland is looking for a new coach after missing the European Championship qualification

After missing the European Championship qualification, Ireland will not continue working with national coach Stephen Kenny.

As the Irish association FAI announced on Wednesday evening, the contract would not be extended. A successor to Kenny, who took over the office in April 2020, has not yet been determined.

Ireland won just two of their eight games in European Championship qualifying and finished fourth behind France, the Netherlands and Greece.

FAI chief executive Jonathan Hill said Kenny had overseen the team during an “important transition phase” and integrated a “significant number of new and younger players”: “This will serve as a solid platform for whoever takes this group of players forward.”
