Iran will “reply strongly” to any retaliatory strikes by the US military against pro-Iranian targets. Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said this today.
Last weekend, three American soldiers were killed in a drone strike on their base in northeastern Jordan, on the border with Syria. The attack also injured 34 people. Washington blamed pro-Iranian militias in Syria and Iraq for the attack. The US military would like to carry out retaliatory attacks on “Iranian personnel and facilities” in those two countries, several media sources claim.

Ebrahim Raisi warned today that such retaliatory attacks will not go unanswered. “We have repeatedly said that we would not start a war. But if any country, a brutal power, wants to intimidate Iran, the Islamic republic will respond decisively,” the Iranian president said.
Raisi also defends the presence of pro-Iranian militias in Syria and Iraq. “Iran’s military power in the region is not a threat to any country,” he claims. “It is a security factor that ensures that the countries in the region can count and rely on the armed forces of the Islamic Republic.”
