Iran state television hacked, burning leader Khamenei in the picture: “Blood is dripping from your hands” | Abroad

Iranian state television was briefly hacked on Saturday. During a news broadcast, an Anonymous mask suddenly appeared, followed by photos of a burning leader Ali Khamenei and fatalities from the protests in Iran.

The unexpected and rare interruption on state television happened around 6 p.m. on the news. In the middle of a report, a photo of Iran’s supreme leader suddenly appeared, with his sights set on his head.

Among them were photos of Mahsa Amini, the 22-year-old woman who was beaten to death by the vice squad, and three other women who were killed in the large-scale protests that followed. The photos were accompanied by texts such as “Join us and get up” and “The blood of our youth is dripping from your hands”.

The message was on screen for at least ten seconds, before quickly switching back to the newsreader.

The hack was claimed by a group calling itself ‘Adalat Ali’, or ‘Ali’s justice’. The group is protesting the police crackdown during the weeks-long protests that followed Amini’s death. On Saturday, three more protesters were shot dead. In Sanandaj, for example, a man was shot dead in his car when he honked in support of the protesters. A photo has been shared on social media of a woman lying unconscious on the ground after being shot in the neck in Mashrad. At least 150 people have been killed since the protests began, according to human rights groups.

“Thrown out of building”

Meanwhile, there is a fuss about the death of another Iranian teenager. 16-year-old Nika Shakarami was killed during the protests. She had been missing in Tehran since September 20 after telling a friend that she was being chased by the police. Her family was not informed until ten days later that her body had been found.

According to an official statement from the authorities, Shakarami was thrown from a building window by construction workers. The forensic report says she had multiple fractures to her pelvis, head, arms and legs. “That indicates that the person was thrown from a great height,” said an expert.

Nika Shakarami’s mother contradicts this, British broadcaster ‘BBC’ reports. “I saw my daughter’s body myself. The back of her head showed that she had received a very heavy blow, her skull was crushed. She was murdered.” This is confirmed by a funeral director’s death certificate. It states that Nika died “from multiple injuries caused by blows with a hard object”.

“Underlying diseases”

The Iranian authorities also hold a different reading on the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini. A coroner said Amini died of “multiple organ failure” caused by a lack of oxygen to the brain, not blows to her head and limbs. She would have lost consciousness due to underlying “diseases”.

The Amini’s death sparked an unprecedented wave of protest in Iran. The woman was arrested by the religious police because she did not comply with the Islamic dress code. According to the protesters, Amini received a fatal blow to her head by the police and died at the station.
