The Iranian authorities, based on their “rich experience”, have proposed steps to Russia to counter US sanctions, said “RIA News” Deputy Head of the Central Bank of Iran for International Affairs Mohsen Karimi.

“Iran, based on its rich experience of being under sanctions over the past years, has taken the necessary measures to get out of the influence of American domination and hostile countries, which he proposed to the Russian side,” he said.

In particular, Karimi said that “there are both agreements and opportunities” for the use of national currencies in trade between countries. “Iran just wants to use them to conduct trade operations with Russia in rubles and rials,” he said.

For the past 40 years, Iran has been the world leader in the number of Western sanctions. But in recent months, Russia has surpassed him in this indicator.
