Apple has long been expected to bring an always-on screen to its phones, familiar to almost all current Android phones. The Always On screen constantly displays, for example, the time of day, battery information, and notifications without having to open the screen.
Bloomberg reports that Apple plans to always turn on the screen with iOS 16. It would be implemented in the same way as in the Apple Watch Series 5 and later smartwatches, i.e. the screen refresh of the upcoming Iphone 14 Pro and Iphone 14 Pro Max screens will be dropped whenever the screen is on. This does not drain the battery even when the monitor is on.
It is not at all certain that Apple will always turn on the on screen in its future phones. Last year, analysts predicted Apple would introduce the feature already on Iphone 13 phones, but it turned out otherwise.
In addition, iOS 16 is expected to bring better multitasking capabilities that make it easier to handle multiple windows, for example.
Apple’s WWDC 2022 event will be held on June 6, when Apple is expected to present IOS 16 in more detail.
