With the iPhone 14, replacing the battery with the Apple service is already significantly more expensive than with its predecessors. But now the company is also raising prices for older models.
The battery service for the iPhone 14 costs 119 euros – almost 60 percent more expensive than older iPhone models. But now Apple is adjusting the prices for all devices that are still supported before the iPhone 14.
New prices apply from March
On its support page, under the estimate box, Apple announces that I will be changing iPhone battery replacement pricing effective March 2023. Accordingly, “the out-of-warranty battery service fee will be increased by €24 for all iPhone models prior to the iPhone 14.”
So far, replacing the battery for the iPhone X to iPhone 13 models has cost 74.99 euros. For the iPhone 6 to 8 models, however, Apple charges 55 euros. So the new pricing structure is as follows:
- 98.99 euros for battery replacement on iPhone X, Xs (Max), Xr; 11, 11 Pro (Max); 12 (mini), 12 Pro (max); 13 (mini), 13 Pro (max)
- 79 euros for battery replacement on iPhone 6 (Plus); 6s (Plus); 7; 8 (Plus); SE (1st, 2nd and 3rd generation)
Prices are also rising for iPads and MacBooks
Not only older iPhone models are affected by higher battery replacement fees, but also out-of-warranty iPads and MacBooks.
Apple is increasing the price of the service by €36 for all MacBook Air models and €60 for all MacBook and MacBook Pro models. For the current MacBook Air with M2, the costs increase from 149 to 185 euros. The current MacBook Pro models (13-inch, 14-inch and 16-inch) now cost 289 euros instead of the previous 229 euros.
Similar to the iPhone 14, Apple has already made battery replacement significantly more expensive for the current iPad models. The service for the iPad Pro 12.9 inch of the 6th generation with M2 costs 219 euros, while the predecessor was only 109 euros. But now the prices are rising here too. The battery replacement for the models iPad Pro 12.9 (5th generation and older), iPad Pro 11 (3rd generation and older), iPad Pro 10.5, iPad Pro 9.7, iPad mini (6th generation and older) and iPad Air (5th generation) Generation and older) will soon cost 40 euros more.
The new prices will apply from March 2023.
