The iPhone 14 Pro is hard to come by this Christmas. In some stores it is no longer available, in others long delivery times are to be expected.
Even Apple is not spared from bottlenecks in delivery. The high demand for the iPhone 14 Pro models means that the availability before Christmas continues to drop. TECHBOOK reveals where the devices can still be found.
Massive delivery problems with the iPhone 14 before Christmas
Apple recently admitted that there will be delivery problems in the Christmas business. As TECHBOOK reported, the lockdown at the largest supplier Foxconn in China due to a Covid outbreak is primarily responsible for this. The ongoing global chip shortage is also causing problems for the company. Last but not least, Apple also overestimated the demand for the standard models of the iPhone 14. For this reason, the production of the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus has now been throttled and the capacities that have been freed up have been shifted to the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max.
For consumers, this means that they currently have little chance of getting an iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max before Christmas. The availability at the major dealers and Apple itself is currently very limited.
Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro won’t arrive until after Christmas
At the beginning of November, the Pro models at Apple still had a delivery time of just under a month. Anyone who orders an iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max today will get it on December 27th at the earliest – i.e. after Christmas. That is a delivery time of five and a half weeks. Collection from the Apple Store is also not possible.
It doesn’t matter which size, memory variant and color you choose – none of the Pro models will arrive in time. In the past, at least, it was often the case that certain versions could be delivered even faster. That doesn’t seem to be the case at the moment.
Amazon is currently shipping iPhone 14 Pro
At Amazon, the matter is quite clear: the mail order company does not currently have a single iPhone 14 Pro in stock. No matter which of the two Pro models you choose, the note “Currently not in stock” can be found for all storage variants and colors. The iPhone 14 Pro Max in dark purple with 256 gigabytes of storage at least says that it will usually be shipped within a month or two. So there is a chance it will arrive before Christmas.
The only iPhone 14 Pro currently still available on Amazon is the 1 terabyte variant in gold. It currently has a delivery time of around ten days.
The German retailers Media Markt and Saturn also currently have restrictions on the sale of the iPhone 14 Pro. Online purchases with pick-up in store are currently not possible. Unlike Amazon and Apple themselves, however, retailers seem to still have units in stock. Some versions of the Pro models currently have short delivery times of one to three days:
media market:
- iPhone 14 Pro 128GB or 256GB in Black
- iPhone 14 Pro 512GB Silver
- iPhone 14 Pro 1TB Gold
- iPhone 14 Pro Max 1TB Black and Gold
Saturn:
- iPhone 14 Pro 1TB Black and Gold
All other memory variants and colors of the two iPhone 14 Pro models have a longer delivery time of about a month – but will at least arrive before Christmas.
Customers have few options
Although some retailers still have iPhone 14 Pro or 14 Pro Max in stock, availability before Christmas is likely to drop quickly. Because if even Apple has problems filling its warehouses, third-party providers are unlikely to get new stock any faster. TECHBOOK recommends simply checking the nearest Apple Store or electronics store to see if there are any devices still available.
