A bug in Apple’s iPhone 13 causes the smartphone to stop working for some users. The curious thing about it: the screen simply turns pink.
In Apple’s community forum and on Reddit, users report that the iPhone 13 display is suddenly completely pink and can no longer be operated. TECHBOOK explains what the problem is and what those affected can do.
iPhone 13 with pink screen and crashes
The first known instance in which we are aware of the error dates back to October 2021. At that time, a user reported that after just one day, his iPhone 13 Pro suddenly only showed a pink screen. The image disappeared after a few seconds, but kept coming back. According to a reply to the post, the user received a replacement device. Nevertheless, in the same post, other people report that they are also affected by the problem – even in January 2022. Complaints from iPhone 13 owners are also piling up in a post on Reddit. Accordingly, in addition to the iPhone 13, the 13 Pro and the 13 Pro Max are also affected.
Apparently, Apple support is not always as accommodating as in the first known case. According to answers in Apple’s forum and on Reddit, support is said to have said that it was a software problem and not a hardware defect. A user was allegedly advised in the Apple Store to install the current iOS version.

Apple is aware of the problem
Chinese blog My Drivers found a statement allegedly posted by official Apple customer service on social media platform Weibo. The statement shows that Apple does not assume a hardware problem:
“We have received no relevant evidence to suggest that this is a hardware issue. Such a situation usually occurs when the system is blocked.”
The same statement states that Apple recommends creating a system backup and then installing the latest iOS update. Although Apple is apparently aware of the error, there is no explicit solution for it so far. There are no indications of this in iOS 15.3, which is to be released soon.
TECHBOOK asked Apple for clarification, but has not yet received an answer.
