IPC President Parsons is looking forward to “unforgettable” Paralympics

One year before the start of the Paralympic Games in Paris, IPC President Andrew Parsons is optimistic. “All stars are pointing in the right direction for Paris 2024 to host a magnificent and unforgettable Paralympic Games that will set a benchmark for all future editions,” said the chief of the International Paralympic Committee.

He expects “innovative and revolutionary Paralympics” from August 28, 2024 and already feels great anticipation.

The Brazilian is counting on a record, the mark of 164 participating NPCs from 2012 should be clearly cracked. “Over the past decade we have seen dramatic improvement in athletic performance across all 22 sports, while the diversity of talent and level of competition has never been greater.” In terms of sport, he expects “the best Paralympic Games of all time”.

Ticket sales will start on October 9th, more than half of the 2.8 million tickets should be cheaper than 25 euros. The day before, a Paralympic day will be held in Paris at the Place de la Republique. “The Paralympic Games are unique. They showcase world-class sport while also having a tremendous social impact on the host city and country,” said Parsons.
