Online investment specialist Saxo signals a record increase in investment activity among Dutch private individuals, who significantly bring their money to the stock exchange faster. Compared to 31 May 2024, the number of active Dutch investors at Saxo has increased by 91%. European top shares benefit from the increased activity among investors.
The fact that the Dutch are investing en masse is not crazy according to Eddy van Geyte, CEO Saxo Netherlands. “Through lower rates and easy access to global markets, investors with smaller amounts step in and consciously opt for growers in the US and Europe.”
Stockpicking in the elevator
In the past year we saw a clear shift in the investment behavior of Dutch saxo customers: portfolios aimed at individual shares (excluding ETFs) grew. “Investors again show the courage to select specific shares, or to stockpicking,” says Van Geyte. Saxo greatly reduced the transaction costs in the past year and expanded his free education offer. Van Geyte: “The combination of competitive prices and inspiration appears to be a magnet for both starting and experienced investors.”
