Investigative Committee took control of checking the circumstances of the death of a family in a fire

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation took control of the course and results of checking the circumstances of a fire in a residential building near Arkhangelsk, in which a woman and four children died. The chairman of the ICR, Alexander Bastrykin, was instructed to present a report on the work of the investigators.

“The head of the department instructed the investigators to comprehensively study all the circumstances of the incident, establishing the causes and conditions that led to the death of the woman and her children,” the statement on the website of the Investigative Committee says.

The fire in a wooden residential building with 12 apartments in the village of Plesetsk occurred last night. Presumably fire began due to a malfunction of the electric stove in the apartment of a large family. Five people died: a 37-year-old woman and her five children, aged three to 12. According to the preliminary version, they were poisoned by carbon monoxide.

Two criminal cases have been initiated under articles on causing death by negligence and negligence.
