Columnist and journalist Hugo Camps has died at the age of 79 in his hometown of Knokke. With this, not only Het Laatste Nieuws says goodbye to a journalistic icon. His intimates also reminisce about a “salon rebel and rascal” and “one of the most colorful figures the Belgian press has produced”. “Before he died he said to me: ‘Something has to be done about the loneliness of the people.’ He was of course right.”
