Interview with Cassia – “We were on tour, we took the risk”

“We played twelve concerts in Great Britain. There was a vaccination control, but otherwise no restrictions. We experienced an enthusiastic mood, full of energy, everyone went along like crazy. The audience sang along to our songs, including those we played live for the first time. It was our biggest tour so far. And it was a strange feeling for me not to have been to a concert for almost two years – and then to play in front of over 1000 people myself. Pretty crazy.

You quickly forget everything else. At first you think that there is a virus on the way. But when the concert is on, the music is the most important thing. I think it is important that you can decide for yourself whether you are exposing yourself to such a risk. Everyone now knows the consequences. Especially in England where there have been so many infections.

We were also slower, like frozen

At the time I had been vaccinated twice, but after the tour in November it hit me. Luckily in a light form. We took the risk, but we’re also that kind of musicians who never cancel concerts. As long as it’s still possible.

As much as I enjoy writing and producing, it just takes that emotional outburst on stage. Our lockdown in Berlin could be used as concentrated studio work for our second album. Before that we jammed in the rehearsal room and then recorded. Now we could tinker with the sound forever. But we were also slower, like frozen. In this respect it was definitely important for us to be able to let everything out on stage after a short rehearsal period in England.”
