INTERVIEW. Gwendolyn Rutten angry with Sammy Mahdi for his statements to HLN about euthanasia in dementia: “This is a slap in the face to all healthcare workers”

Flemish minister Gwendolyn Rutten (Open Vld) is not just a little displeased, she is dismayed and angry. And specifically CD&V chairman Sammy Mahdi, who told HLN that he would rather develop dementia in Kazakhstan than in Flanders. “He insults everyone who cares for people with dementia and throws everything together in an attempt to push euthanasia for dementia into the elections,” she says here in a striking response. Isn’t this profiling towards the elections? And how does her party want to solve it?
